The Egg Shakin' Blues!

Yep... the Little Olive's got them. Check it out...

She had a great time at this week's music class.

She got to shake the eggs AND she got her very own drum! She learned to use it quickly!

She liked it so much she practiced at home!

Pretty darn good if you ask me!

The Little Olive Shares with Daddy

Yesterday we went to dinner after a trip to the mall. The interesting restaurants were all too busy, so we had.... yeah, once again... MEXICAN FOOD!

In all seriousness, Mexican restaurants are awesome for the Little Olive because they're fast, quite maneuverable and usually loud (so nobody cares if the Little Olive is causing a ruckus).

Anyway, here's the point of my post...

The Little Olive shared a chip with her father! Then she dance and waved "hi!"

She's learning so much!

Happy Birthday!

Last Tuesday I got older... and so did the Little Olive. I'm old and she's 10 months old! We celebrated with a small party.

My wife got me a present for the "Homey Pub." It's a bottle opener with a magnetic strip that goes on the fridge. How cool is that? It's even personalized and says, you guessed it, "Homey Pub."

Super Fun!

We even got balloons!

The Little Olive was still playing with them when I wrote this blog post!

Dinner was good, too. Per my request, I grilled burgers. I also grilled brussel sprouts that were prepared by my wonderful wife!

Oh yeah, we had fries, too! Solid, solid dinner... even with the near problem I almost created. When I came in the back door, I took my shoes off. One of them got stuck in the door and propped it open. And yeah, I didn't notice. When I finally realized what I'd done, The Little Cat was missing!

I searched all over the neighborhood for the little guy. He was nowhere to be found. My wife and her parents searched our house for him. It turns out he was hiding in the back of my closet because he doesn't like company.

Crisis averted! Whew!

After dinner and the cat search I got a present!

It was a WVU panaramic photo. It spells "West Virginia" with different pictures from WVU's campus.

Awesome gift and thanks a ton, Tom, BJ and Margie! We're still looking for a place to put it because it needs to be seen on a regular basis!

And, of course, the Little Olive wanted to play with the bubble wrap that the picture came in. She tried to pop the bubbles, but wasn't strong enough.

After all the excitement was over, the Little Olive read her books, had her bath and got read for bed, we took her 10 month birthday pictures!

It's so darn hard to keep her still enough to get these shots these days, we just take what we can get.

Here she is holding the sign, but not looking at the camera. She's just so interested in everything.

She smiled for the camera once we removed the sign.

She is a hoot. Happy 10 month birthday, Little Olive!

The Little Olive and the Charleston Montessori

Last Tuesday The Little Olive, her mother and grandparents went to a music class at the Charleston Montessori School for Acedemic Excellence. The school teaches a passion for learning things like music, art, physical fitness and the Spanish language.

The Little Olive is enrolled in an eight week class that meets every Tuesday morning at 9:30.

Here she is being the center of attention...

Seems like she definitely felt comfortable! She gets a little nervous in new places sometimes, but it didn't take her long to warm up!

It just so happened we all know the other 4 kids in the class. They were children of some of our Charleston friends. Here's a picture of the Little Olive, her mom, 9 week old Baby A. and his mother playing with music bubbles...

It looks like everyone had a great time!

Here's the Little Olive playing with her percussion sticks!

And here's a video of the same...

We're all looking forward to what she learns over the next 7 weeks. We already know she enjoys music when she dances around our house. Hopefully this class will help that interest grow into an appreciation.

The Little Olive Plays with Easter Gifts

Well, she kinda played with "gifts" if you count fake grass. We could give her the best toy in the world and she'd want to play with fake grass and a flyswatter.

Whatever makes her happy. :)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

Check out the Little Olive's easter basket.

She got a giant peep, some books, a hat and a little duck.

No chocolate bunnies for this little girl!

Even the Big Cat was interested in the basket. He's always nosy.

Mom and dad were hungry too.

We had a casserole! Don't ask me what it's called. It has eggs, hashbrowns, sundried tomatoes and bacon in it!

Spectacular! My wife is an 8 star chef!

A fun Easter, indeed!

Magic Island Easter Egg Hunt!

Yesterday the family and I headed to Magic Island on the banks of the beautiful Kanawha River in downtown Charleston for an easter egg hunt. We understood the hunt was to start at 11... that wasn't the case, however. The event started at 11 and the hunt began at 1pm.

She wasn't having it. She wanted an egg. So, we cheated and let her cross the rope to grab a few.

We weren't waiting for two hours.

She liked the grass. She crawled all over.

She grabbed a few eggs and shook them. She could almost hear the rattle it made over the blaring country music. The eggs were filled with chocolate. Genius idea to throw down a bunch of plastic eggs with chocolate in them and wait 3 hours in the hot sun before the kids picked them up. The smoking, pregnant mothers and snuff dipping daddies didn't seem to mind, though.

Anyway... enough about that. Here's Livvy and her mommy!

Very pretty.

Grandma and Grandpa stopped by to watch!

She wore her cute blue dress.

The Little Olive was all over the place! She'd had enough of this makeshift egg hunt. She wanted lunch!

What's for lunch?? Mexican food! The Little Olive had a lime for her meal...

She was excited about it at first! Then she really tasted it.

It was sour! Our day wasn't, however. We had a great time at our own easter egg hunt.
